Visual Merchandising is a process or profession to display the merchandise by the development of flour plans and three-dimensional display that can be seen by customers outside or inside the store in order to maximize the sales.
In visual merchandising in order to highlight benefits and features, both services or products can be displayed. In order to maximize sales, display should be eye catching so that it can grab customers attention.
Important Elements of Visual Merchandising
There are certain elements that are responsible for an eye-catching display but here are most important elements of visual merchandising.
Color Platelet
When it comes to the display the most important element or factor in visual merchandising is color. For a display to be eye catching and attention grabbing, color scheme should be coordinate well enough.
For example, while creating your display, choose contrast of light and dark colors or monochromatic colors.
Combination of same colors doesn’t look much appealing as the contrast or opposites so contrast colors doesn’t loose sight for the first time.
Uniformity and Presentation
The second important element in visual merchandising is the presentation of your display. Remember analyze your store in the customers perspective that when you enter the store, make sure there is no mess as if your confused to where to look first, if you feel the mess and don’t understand, the customers will feel the same way.
Without uniformity in the display you can’t grab customers attention. There should be focal point where you have placed the latest merchandise so arrange your display in such a way that customer looks where you want him to look first and then after the other.
Merchandise
The amount of merchandise that is used for the display is another important element to be considered while you’re setting up the display.
Mostly, people think that maximum amount of merchandise can drive more sales but while doing so they usually create a mess with more than enough amount of merchandise that results in confusing the customer.
Instead of using the maximum merchandise, use certain amount that fits best according to the space available. Window displays easily grab customer’s attention so add latest products and make your display visually engaging.
Tell a story
The layout of the display should be story telling. Studies revealed that you have first 5 seconds in order to engage customer’s attention.
Use powerful signals and include short product descriptions in bullet points in order to tell the customers the benefits of using the product.
Change Displays Weekly
Analyze your sales week after week and try to change displays. Determine how the displays are affecting your sales.
Changing displays will give your store a fresh look and it’s an important element of visual merchandising to drive customers attention.
